The Korea Professional Football League has taken action to protect the brand value and rights of K League. On May 13, the league announced the operation of the ‘K League IP License Rights Protection Center.’
This initiative aims to systematically manage intellectual property held by K League and its clubs, prevent rights infringement, and respond to unauthorized production and sale of merchandise, fostering a healthy consumer environment for fans. The protection scope includes K League’s name, logo, emblem, competition titles, and trophies, as well as each club’s name, logo, mascot, and uniform design elements.
The league plans to monitor activities such as unauthorized production or sale of these assets, actions that could mislead consumers into believing unofficial products are official or collaborative items, and continued use of related assets after license agreements expire. It will take necessary measures, including requesting cessation of use after internal and legal reviews. Fans and stakeholders can report infringement cases via a dedicated email address for the protection center.
