Katy Perry, Michael Bublé, and Alanis Morissette are among the artists set to headline three separate opening ceremonies for the 2026 World Cup this summer. Each ceremony will take place before the first match in each host nation—the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The opening festivities begin on Thursday, June 11 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, where Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin and South African singer-songwriter Tyla will perform ahead of the tournament’s first game between Mexico and South Africa. The following day, Canadian singer-songwriters Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette will headline the ceremony at BMO Field in Toronto, just before Canada takes on Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the United States, pop star Katy Perry and rapper Future will perform at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 12, before the USA faces Paraguay.
“The FIFA World Cup is a moment the world shares, and that begins with how we open it,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “Starting with Mexico City and continuing the next days with Toronto and Los Angeles, these ceremonies will bring together music, culture and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament. It is a powerful way to begin a truly global celebration.”
